Oils and Greases
BOC Edwards recommends the highest grade and quality of oils and greases for maintaining high performance of your BOC Edwards products. Our fluids and sealants include mineral-based, silicone-based, synthetic-organic compounds and fluorinated materials (PFPE).
BOC Edwards strongly advise using only the recommended grades and quantities of fluids and sealants to maintain the high performance of BOC Edwards products. The use of inferior materials can lead to a reduction in pumping system efficiency and performance, ultimately leading to the potential failure of equipment.
BOC Edwards offers products within the following categories:
Mineral-based materials
Our Ultra-grade oil for rotary vane pumps is produced using a two stage hydro-treatment process. This process delivers very pure oil with exceptional stability.
Silicone-based materials
These materials are used for Diffstak and diffusion pump fluids and greases. They comprise either di-methyl siloxanes or phenyl methyl siloxanes.
Synthetic organic compounds
These include various hindered esters, phenyl ethers and naphthalene-based compounds. They are offered for use in Diffstak and diffusion pumps, but they can also be used as rotary pump oils in certain unique applications.
Fluorinated materials (PFPE) - particularly for semiconductor applications
These are perfluoropolyethers. Perfluoropolyether is a fully fluorinated material free from other halogens and from hydrocarbons, and so is of particular value where freedom from hydrocarbons is important. Perfluoropolyether fluid is available in grades suitable for use in rotary pumps. A low-vapor fomblin grease (AR555) is available which combines good
